Mr. André Meyer,
Cloud Consultant
A virtual telephone number or "virtual number", is a telephone number without a directly-associated phone line. The provider of such numbers allows the owner to map or configure the number to forward to either a voice over IP service, or to a different phone line, fixed or mobile.
Virtual numbers can be purchased from as little as US$10 per month, in almost 50 countries in the world.
Virtual numbers are often used for incoming calls only. We configure the virtual number to connect to our CloudPBX so you can offer your customers local phone number to contact you. The call has no charge to your company.
However in Asia not every country provides virtual numbers. Countries not supported include Macau, Philippines, Vietnam, Indonesia, Myanmar (Burma), and Indo China.
China virtual numbers can be obtained for Shenzhen and sometimes Beijing but other cities are difficult to obtain as China has strict laws in place to not allow numbers to terminate outside of China.
Our CloudPBX can broadcast a virtual number as the caller ID when you place a call in that country. For example, if you had a Malaysia virtual number, the CloudPBX can send that number whenever you dial +60 as the caller ID. Your Singapore number can be sent when you dial +65 and your Australia number when you dial +61.
Unified Communications (UC) defines the convergence of data and voice across a single connection. Gone are the days where a business requires a telephone company to install the phone lines and a broadband line. Today a single broadband line is all that is needed.
SIP Trunking allows your CloudPBX to connect to a SIP Provider. Their role is to provide a gateway between the Internet (IP world) and the traditional PSTN or public switch telephone network (old system). Once the CloudPBX has a connection to a SIP provider outside calls can be placed, even in a different country than you are located.
If your CloudPBX project is for internal calls only between branch offices with the goal of reducing your long distance call costs, there is technically no requirement to have a SIP trunk or be connected to a SIP provider. This is only required to place external calls.
CloudPBX supports multiple SIP Trunks thus allowing a company to have a dial tone in Singapore, Malaysia and Hong Kong. Calls made to each country would be treated as local calls and local rates would apply.
Countries you may have a virtual number for but do not have a local SIP Trunk would simply mean you make a long-distance call when calling that country but remember you can broadcast your virtual number so the person you are calling "thinks" your call is coming from a local company and our long distance calls rate can be lower than US$0.02c per minute.
A number of our customers adopt our CloudPBX to simply connect key people in each branch office thus saving a tremendous amount on long distance telephone charges.
There is no country specific restrictions for our CloudPBX when being used for internal calls only. If a country has restrictions, e.g. like Philippines or China, this is only in regard to the connections to the public telephone network. There is no restrictions on sharing data or voice traffic across the internet with associated offices or even clients.
So What is Needed?
The basic requirement is to purchase an IP phone and configure it to connect to our CloudPBX. We can certainly help organise this with you and help configure remotely.
Once the phone is configured it will become an extension on the CloudPBX the same as all other users. An example on set up may be 651, 652, 653 etc may be used for the Singapore team whereas 811, 812, 813 may be used for Japan etc. So each branch could be grouped into their team.
Conference Calls - Meetings
CloudPBX supports meeting rooms so conference calls among branches can take place as well as recording the meeting so others can listen later if they could not attend.
